Abdominal Acupuncture
Tuvia Scott (engl.)
Abdominal Acupuncture (AA) is a therapeutic microsystem, in which specific points and areas on the abdomen correspond to other parts of the body. It has become very popular because of its efficacy in treating chronic, long-term conditions such as musculoskeletal problems, neurological disorders, dizziness, headaches, depression, digestive disorders gynecological problems balancing the Zang Fu and Strengthening Yuan Qi.
The use of Abdominal Acupuncture to treat illness, harmonize the Zang Fu, and strengthening the Yuan qi is based on ancient theories of Daoist life preservation, TCM, Ba Gua , the Five Elements and modern scientific understanding of our abdominal „second brain“.
This technique is based on the navel (Ren-8 Shenque) as the central nucleus which is considered to be the first system of regulation, the basis of the meridian system and the distribution of qi and blood of the whole body forming a macroscopic control. The development of the umbilical regulation system is divided into two different systems: one is located in the superficial layer of the skin in the abdominal area and is called the post-natal system (musculoskeletal) represented by the Sacred Turtle which includes the meridian system; the second system is located at a deeper layer of the abdomen and is called the pre-natal system represented by the Ba gua map.
Treatment aims to adjust, harmonize and re-balance the body and mind. By concentrating acupuncture therapy in the abdominal and navel region, all parts of the body and health problems can be treated because the energetic flow of the whole body is focused in this area.
Scientists have studied the nerve system for more than 100 years, but only recently have they started to study the abdominal-brain. Now all the abdominal-brain experts believe that the abdomen has wisdom.
There is a very complicated nerve system inside the abdomen: it contains about 100 million nerve cells which are more than that of the brain nerve cells, and also highly similar to brain nerve cells in function and components.
As showed in research by Dr. Gershon, the digestive system has closer relation with emotions than people thought…
